Layering: Loose or Tight??
« on: 15:57:43, 02/10/15 »
I've always assumed all layers need to be reasonably tight fitting...so that each layer is close to each other, and sweat can be moved more quickly from skin to base layer, to next layer to outer layer.

On other hand...I suppose it could be argued that in winter you should wear everything except the base layer relatively loose, trap plenty of are between each layer to preserve warmth.

Is there a "best" practice?

Both.  In summer loose base layer and loose top if worn.  In winter, tight base layer such as Helly Hansen, with slightly looser layer on top, then fleece and or roomy top such as Paramo or Berghaus shell depending on wind and weather.

It's what I do.  No idea if it's correct but it seems to work for me.
