New Camera needed

Need help looking to update my Canon G11.  I have first looked at the compact super zooms but unsure of the sensor size, so maybe an sensor from half inch upwards. Must have the usual good metering system/focusing system and none stitch panorama, combined with Time lapse and the ability to Geotagging photos when needed.  I am not a real fan of pointless effects.
It must have a simple top plate that anyone can pick up and take a photo/movie and not having to go to deep into the menu system to operate the camera.
If you can give me any guidance and options/experiences would be great.
