JustWandering... from Telford

Hi everyone,


I'm John, living in Telford, original from Wolverhampton. I came back to walking a couple of years ago to try to preserve my health and sanity. It seems to have worked (mostly!)


I walk in Shropshire in the short winter days and summer evenings, and venture out to north Wales as the days get longer, with occasional trips to Anglesey and the coast path. My real favourite is mid Wales though - the Berwyns, Arans and the Cadair ridge.


I'm hoping to try some backpacking this year and get in some multi-day walks. And do some walks in the Brecons... And try a proper winter walk....

Welcome JW, I like Telford but only because it means I get to turn off the motorway after Birmingham when heading to N Wales. Did have a walk up the Wrekin once which was quite pleasant.Glad the walking has been good for your health, but sanity seems to be a rare commodity among the folk on hre

I share your liking for the hills just over the Welsh border.  But you have a fine route on your doorstep, the full traverse of Wenlock Edge along the trail on the northern side of the escarpment.  Particularly good in the Spring before the trees go into full leaf and block off some of the views.  I like what I call Mary Webb country too, Long Mynd and the Stiperstones, the setting for most of her novels.  Just down the road for you.
