Some Walks in the High Weald
« on: 10:14:50, 27/02/17 »
I've been doing some walks in the High Weald in Sussex this winter.  These three photos are of Eridge Park, a landscape of lakes, woods and parkland

This is on the High Weald Landscape Trail near Eridge Rocks

These two pictures are of Broadwater Warren, one of the medieval forests of the Weald Forest Ridge. It's now an RSPB reserve and they've been clearing some of the conifers and restoring the heathland

Thanks for looking    :)

Looks like a lovely area to walk, Dovegirl - I especially like the photo of the solitary tree at Broadwater Warren.

Looking at the pictures made me think that, even though I'm looking forward to all the new greenery to come in spring and summer, I'll quite miss the bare branches of the trees outlined against the sky. Makes for some beautiful images and silhouettes.

Nice photos. I think that Kent and Sussex are great for walking, no mountains but certainly attractive and varied. Also lovely villages and pubs. Choosing the time of the year wisely, for example, different times of the year for blossom, cherries and apples can easily enhance the pleasure.

Nice photos.  Some of them could have gone into the Tree topic.  I am afraid to say I have never been to Sussex.  From these and other photos you have posted it looks like a beautiful part of the country.

Lovely pics Dovegirl.  I like the first one of the lake - so peaceful.  And the one of the gate - anticipating walking through it into the sunshine beyond  :)

Yes, I think the intricate tracery of the branches is one of the pleasures of winter walking

I love spring blossom!

Yes, Sussex has beautiful, varied landscapes, from rolling downland to high heathlands, and some spectacular coastal walking

I like the first one of the lake - so peaceful.  And the one of the gate - anticipating walking through it into the sunshine beyond

Unfortunately the PROW didn't go through the gate!
