Keeping safe in a tent!
« on: 17:13:13, 28/02/17 »
I've just been browsing on the internet and came across a USA forum. Writer suggested a roll of lightweight plastic netting to encircle a tent when wild camping. Some people agreed! Loved it!  ;D

I assume to try to screen out snakes and venomous insects, rather than bears!

I don't think netting is going to keep snakes or insects out  :)

Can you provide a link to the item, or a quote, gunwharfman?

I assume it's more like an early warning system. Rather than being aware of an intruder when they unzip your tent door you hear quite a lot of noise and swearing as they become entangled in your plastic netting.

I also assume it's a joke. Hence gunwharfman's use of this ->  ;D

A homemade one could be just the thing for your tarp GW

After a few beers, an explosion would be needed, let alone a netting for an early warning system.

I was just meandering through various sites, subjects and a few forums so really did not take that much notice. It was a USA site, the query just caught my eye, amused me and then I moved on. I started by looking up the various permutations of how to set up a tarp and in my wanderings I even came across another USA site where a writer asked should he take a gun on the John Muir Trail. One person commented that he carries a gun at all times, even when at home!

Just an aside, I'm spending a lot of time in front of my PC at the moment trying to overcome. what the physio has identified as a hamstring injury. I need my left leg back urgently or my planned March and possibly April hikes are going to go down the pan?

I also decided to use Gumtree for the first time. I advertised a free garden shed to anyone who wants to collect on a first come first served basis. Took me by surprise, within 24 hours 11 people had contacted me. Its going on Saturday morning! Possibly a way to clear out my garage?
