With cloud encircling the higher Mournes, I opted for a low level valley walk yesterday in the Mournes. I didn't fancy a woodland walk so I drove past Donard Forest to the Silent Valley reservoir. The Silent Valley is my favourite low level walk in the Mournes. The entire walk is on a tarmac path. It is a 'to there and back again' walk. Leaving the car park I headed up to the reservoir which affords a great view across to Slievenaglogh. There is actually two Slievenagloghs in the Mournes. The SV one is the better one

It was quite windy as I made my way to Ben Crom Reservoir. Doan was covered in cloud but Ben Crom was cloud free. After reaching the half way point at the reservoir I simply retraced my steps back to the start. Total distance was 5 miles taking two hours.
