On Sunday we did a 7.5mile walk starting at Hayton Lane End and finishing at Brampton. The weather wasn't bad, a few sunny spells and light winds. We walked to Low Gelt bridge and into Gelt Woods. We were going to visit Talkin Tarn so we turned off toward Brampton then turned right toward Wreay and Tarn Road.

The view from the path to Wreay

Beefy and Squeaky on the lovely path

Castle Carrock Fell

We reached Talkin Tarn and we did a clockwise walk around it.

Sailing about on the water

We stopped for lunch a quarter of the way around. My knee has improved from last week and it seems almost back to normal. Beefy wasn't very well this weekend he had a cough and sore throat and felt pretty awful.

Across Talkin Tarn

We left the tarn path and walked to Brampton railway station. We used the old railway path back to Brampton and we spotted a deer crossing the path in front of us.

A Roe deer

It had jumped the fence into a nearby field.

The deer scarpered of course

Or are we in Middle Earth?  ;)  And only a 10 minute bus journey away  ;)

We caught our bus at Brampton. Not a bad walk but we hope we are both fit for next weekend and the weather is fit for a wild camp! Our route was Hayton Lane End - footpath to Wreay - Tarn Road - Talkin Tarn - around the tarn - Brampton Railway Station - Brampton 12km with 30m ascent.

Only one trip report this week. We went to Newcastle on Saturday for a family birthday and did a 6.25 mile walk from Heddon to Newburn but as it rained most of the time I took no photos!

Lovely pics.  Can't beat a nice pootle about on a day walk.

Great shot of the deer too.  Either you were really close or have a fab zoom on your camera?

No expense spared in pursuit of a bargain ;)

It wasn't a bad walk was it beefy?

Thanks Mel  :) We were about 40 feet away maybe? I have a Sony Cybershot HX60, it does have a decent zoom for such a small camera  :)

Mmm.  Might have to have a nosey at that camera then seeing as mine has developed "intermittent problems" after one too many soggy rain shots  :(

Lovely pics. The weather was pretty bad this weekend, lets hope it clears up by the end of the week.

Pleased to hear that your knee is getting better, look after that young man.

There may be newer or improved Sony Cybershot cameras out now, mine is a few years old. Mine is still in good fettle mind so I wont be replacing it any time soon.

Well that's the kiss of death for my camera  :D

Eh? What young man are you referring to?  :-\
