TR - More snow on Hampsfell23rd January 2021Got a surprise this morning when I opened the curtains - the garden was plastered with snow! Only one thing to do - head up Hampsfell. By the time we had eaten breakfast and got our boots on, the snow had stopped but Grange was shrouded in mist. A lot of families sledging on Fell End, so we climbed to the summit cairn by a circuitous route. Less people about as we headed north towards Hampsfell.

Hawthorns in the mist

More photogenic hawthorns - I particularly like these two
It was still misty by the time we reached Hampsfell Hospice, but we could see that the sun was trying to break through, so we circled around the area of limestone pavement to the north to give it a chance.

The mist had almost completely cleared by the time we had circled back to the Hospice

Heading back along the Hampsfell ridge

Distant fells coming into view. The hill to the left of the wind sculpted tree is Great Burney

Christmas Pudding Rock - one of the many erratics on Hampsfell

"Gotcha" - she loves the snow

The Coniston fells from Fell End

Almost back - Spring Bank Road
...and to finish off the day, I took Tess back up Fell End in the moonlight for her evening walk - magical.
