Lakes 3000 - 3 days / 2 Nights
« on: 11:20:58, 04/04/21 »
Hi All,

Im Liam, new here today but always been keen on hiking. I've done Hike's like Snowdonia but never anything more than a day. I have acquired all of my backpacking equipment and intend on doing the lakes 3000 in May.

Any hints/tips?

Hi Liam - welcome to the forum.  I'd not heard of the Lakes 3000 as a challenge route.  Are you looking to try to do it in 24 hours?  If so, that's some challenge and will demand a bit of nighttime navigation in some difficult terrain.

Hi; welcome to the forum.

There are lots of websites around that will offer advice on the best route, but unless you are a confident rock climber, avoid Broad Stand, the direct route between Scafell Pike and Scafell, This is a rock climb, not a scramble, especially dangerous when the polished holds are wet. The exposure is considerable, and deaths have occurred here.

Other advise is to get a practice wild camp in beforehand, if you have not already done so.

Hi both,[/size]Thank you for the replies. Good advice on doing the wild camp prior. I am going to plan on doing this perhaps next Sunday/Mon.The lakes 3000 is a route I found on alltrails. I do like using that App but suspect there are more professional ones around.
